UWR: Dr Seidu Jasaw set to reward best performing BECE candidates

The Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency, Hon Godfred Seidu Jasaw has pledged to reward pupils who would excel in the upcoming Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) in November.

According to him, there is a special package for males who will obtain aggregate 6-8 and females who will obtain aggregate 6-12.

Dr Jasaw made this known when he toured Basic Schools in the Wa East District to monitor the commencement of a mock exams he sponsored for the various schools.

Over 1,027 BECE candidates in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region sits for the mock exams as part of preparation towards the main examination.

Dr Jasaw with a team from the Ghana Education Service (GES), led by the Wa East District Director, Madam Ayisha Jinsung on Monday 13th September, 2021 went to some centres to supervise the exams.

Speaking to some students at the Manwe E/A JHS, the MP called on the students to take the mock examination seriously as it will prepare them for the upcoming BECE exams.

“This is an important exercise to help you prepare for the main exams, you must take this seriously and make good grades in the BECE to make us proud and to succeed us in future” Dr Jasaw.

Director of Education for the Wa East District, Madam Ayisha Jinsug thanked the MP for the initiative and tasked the teachers to help maintain good performance in the BECE exams.

The Wa East District has topped the list of best-performing Districts in BECE exams within the Upper West Region in the last 5 years.

The District recorded 96% in 2018, 95% in 2019 and dropped to 59% in 2020 but maintain top spot in the Upper West Region.

The MP revealed they are not relaxing their efforts in education, saying education matters more in his agenda to develop the Wa East District.
