The reconfirmation of the two rejected Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCE’s) nominees for Jirapa and Lawra will happen on the 11th and 12th of October, 2021 respectively.
The rejected nominees, Martin Domotiere Bomba-Ire and Christine Bombanye Amadu for Lawra District and Jirapa Municipal respectively were rejected on 5th October, 2021.
In Lawra, 21 assembly members voted YES representing 50% while 21 of them NO also representing 50% to reject the nominee who was suppose to secure 28 votes out of the 42 votes cast to guarantee his confirmation.
Christine Bombanye Amadu polled 31 ‘Yes’ votes and 21 ‘No’ votes and was rejected after failing to secure two-thirds of the of the assembly members which translates into some 36 votes to be approved, but fell short of 5 votes.
After the confirmation series in the Upper West Region, 8 MDCE’s were confirmed, 2 of them are due for consideration by their respective assemblies again while 1 nominee was rejected.
