UWR: National Cathedral Fundraiser Event To be Launched in Wa- Dr Bin Salih Reveals

A fundraising event is expected to be launched in the Upper West on Tuesday,16th November 2021 towards the construction of the National Cathedral in Ghana at Rev. Paul Adu Methodist Church hall in Wa.

This was disclosed by the Upper West Regional Minister, Dr Hafiz Bin Salih in a press briefing held at the Upper West RCC on Wednesday, November 3rd 2021.

According to the Upper West Regional Minister Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, the fundraising is to ensure that “the Cathedral does not put an undue financial burden on the state”.

He added that the President has proposed a framework of the partnership between the state and the Ghanaian Christian community both at home and in the Diaspora to raise funds for the construction of the National Cathedral.

The Upper West Regional Minister further appealed to the people of the Upper West Region to turn up for the launch and contribute to support the construction of the National Christian Cathedral.

The President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo in 2017 cut the sod for the construction of a National Christian Cathedral for the country to provide space for national events of religious nature.

Many suspecting Ghanaians have questioned the source of funding for the cathedral, cautioning the Government not to commit taxpayers income to the project.

The Board of Trustees of the National Cathedral has been seeking support from the public to help complete the project.

Dr Hafiz Bin Salih revealed similar events will be held in all the 16 Regional Capitals across the country.
