DBI: Construction Yet to Begin on District Hospital After Six Months of Land Clearance

The Dafiama Busie Issa district (DBI) is one of the five districts in the Upper West region without a befitting District hospital.

It is in the light of this that the Akufo Addo government promised to provide the District with a hundred bed district hospital as part of the Ghana Priority Health Infrastructure Projects dubbed Agenda 111.

Six months ago, the contractor for the hospital project in DBI, RAHMA Company Ltd proceeded to the site to engage in land clearance which resulted in the destruction of some acreages of maize in the area.

However, since clearing the land, nothing much has been done on the site.

A visit to the site by Albert Dapare of Home Radio revealed that only a sign post has been erected detailing the name of the contractor, consultant and other requirements.

In addition to that a store room has also be constructed that in anticipation that they mobilize to site their equipment would be kept there.

Each project is said to cost $17 million and expected to be completed in twelve months.

The project was launched on Tuesday, August 17, 2021 at Trede in the Atwima Kwawoma district of the Ashanti region.

It is instructive to state that if the contractor would meet the deadline then he has less than seven months to execute the project.

Sources close to the contractor says his delay in executing the project is as a result of funds not being released by government for the project.
