WA CENTRAL NDC CONDEMNS NPP FOR INTRA- PARTY CRIMINAL ATTACKS ON ITS MEMBERS IN THE WA CENTRAL CONSTITUENCY

The leadership of the NDC in the Wa Central Constituency has noted with grave concern the recent intra-party criminal attacks and brutalizations among members of perceived competing camps within the NPP in the Wa Central Constituency.

We are particularly disturbed because such indiscreet conducts have the potential of disturbing the peace and polarizing the political environment in which both the NPP and the NDC operate in.

Following the NPP’s on going reorganisation exercise at its branches nationwide, We have received several reports of criminal physical attacks on members of perceived competing camps within the NPP in various parts of the country including the Wa Central Constituency.

It is an opened secrete that since the commencement of the NPP branch elections exercise particularly in the Wa Central Constituency, the process has evidently been fraught with unfairness, manipulations and underhand dealings allegedly masterminded by interested elements close to power, and in most instances brute force is employed by paid thugs to disrupt the process to the disadvantage of their perceived competitors.

For instance, one Abdulai kpegla Issah Junior (NPP Financial Secretary, Wa Central Constituency) was assaulted at Sing branch and his car screen smashed, at Huriaya school branch, the process was disrupted by thugs, at Mummies kitchen branch, one D-man was beaten to pulp, at Dondoli branch a young man by name Nuhu Ahmed had his occiput butchered with a cutlass.

These are just but a few of the incidences since the whole exercise was marred with violence and intimidation.

More regrettable and offensive to the morality of Ghanaians is the complicity with which the NPP is still employing thugs in its internal party operations contrary to the VIGILANTISM AND RELATED OFFENCES ACT, 2019 (Act 999).

From the foregone, it’s reprehensible that, a party that prides itself on its democratic credentials would resort to violence as the only tool for dealing with its internal matters.

The leadership of the NDC in the Wa Central Constituency therefore condemns in no uncertain terms, the violence within the camp of the NPP in the Wa Central Constituency and everywhere else.

We are by this release calling on the leadership of the party to sit up and inject discipline into their party by holding those responsible for these unfortunate developments accountable.

We equally call on all fair-minded individuals and stakeholders to condemn these acts of violence and irresponsibility within the NPP.

The time for us to adhere to the president’s call to be “citizens and not spectators” is now since these acts of irresponsibility are compromising our collective security by diverting the attention of the security services from dealing with the real issues of armed robbery and terrorism.

In conclusion, let us all be reminded that we owe it a duty to God and country to jealously protect the peace and stability of this country.

Long live Ghana
Long live us all
