UWR: GIPC embarks on regional sensitization Tour

The Ghana Investment Promotion Centre ( GIPC) has embarked on a sensitization workshop in the Upper West Region.

The workshop for the Upper West Region was held in Wa, on Monday 30th May 2022 at the Delagio Hotel.

Over 120 participants from the various business units and departments attended the workshop which was coordinated by Regional Coordinating Council.

The sensitization tour was to encourage local investors to register with the Centre to enable them benefit from incentives provided by the investment in the GIPC Act 865 of 2013.

Mr Edward Ashong Lartey, Director of Investor Services Division at GIPC noted that the forum which brought together over one hundred businesses will create room for networking, and will again pave way for GIPC to engage and collaborate with the Municipal, and District chief executives (MDCES) across the region.

He however expresses concern about the low project registration within the Upper West Region over the last few years and called for more projects to be registered to attract investment.

“During the presentation, you will realise that in terms of the number of projects registered, Upper West Region from 1994 to 2021 registered only five projects. But if you look at the various resources that the region has, I believed there is a lot more that has not been captured” he said.

The forum which is on the theme “Grow in Ghana, Grow with Ghana” will be used to obtain first-hand information from Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs), issues that inhibit their growth and undertake on-the-spot analysis of companies for registration
