Dunjagu Community establishes a farm to feed school children

Residents of Dunjagu, a community in the Nadowli-Kaleo District of the Upper West Region has established a communal farm to help them feed the 85 KG/primary pupils.

The school was built and opened in 2021 by a Baptist church in Ghana with the help of the locals, according to neighbors speaking to a Home Radio News crew on the farm.

Residents claim that after years of fighting to get a school block for the kids, the church came to their rescue with this school.

Children from the Community had to travel great distances to Sombo to attend school, and many children from the age of five were unable to do so because of the distance.

Leading member Mr. Kwabena Yuobayeng praised the Baptist church of Ghana, led by Pastor Bangonluri, for making such a thoughtful donation.

He said that the Nadowli – Kaleo district assembly and Ghana Education Service made several commitments to help and take over the school during its inaugural ceremony, but that nothing beneficial has come from them since then, and everything is still the pastor and the school’s responsibility.

In keeping with this, the locals organized together to start a Community Farm effort to help the school feed the students while they waited for the assembly to approve a school food program.

But they encourage well-wishers, charitable groups, and philanthropists to follow in the footsteps of Pastor Bangonluri and his congregation by helping the community.

Mr. Anthony Kanteng, the chairman of the school PTA, restated the matter and made an appeal to the assembly and Ghana Education Service Nadowli in the Kaleo District for instructors and school desks.
