UW: Wa residents lament over government decision to freeze employment

The government’s intention to freeze employment in the public sector starting in 2023 owing to the economic downturn in the nation has angered some worried inhabitants of Wa in the Upper West Region.

They made this known to Homeradionews.com on November 25, 2022 after the Finance Minister, Ken Ofori Atta delivered the 2023 Budget to Parliament on November 24, 2022.

According to them, the government’s move will make life harder for Ghanaians and increase the country’s crime rate.

Despite the economic difficulties, they claimed that it was unacceptable to annually train students in the various schools while refusing to provide them with jobs.

When it comes to employment rates, they claimed that the public sector has the highest level of employment while indicating that the country would not be best served by freezing employment starting in 2023.

Residents are worried, but they urge the government to use better options and ways to reform the economy rather than freezing employment and making things worse.
