UWR: Retired Footballers Association consoles clubs for missing out on the Division II League title

The Retired Footballers Association in the Upper West Region has extended its heartfelt condolences to Wa United FC and Wa FC for narrowly missing out on the Upper West Regional Division II League title.

In a meeting held by the association at the premises of the Bahass Foundation, representatives expressed their support and encouraged the teams to continue pushing forward in their pursuit of success.

Speaking on behalf of the association, the CEO of Bahass Foundation, Elyasu Yussif conveyed his sympathies to both clubs and urged them to remain resilient, emphasizing that their time to clinch the Division II league will come.

He commended their fair participation in the just-ended middle league and expressed gratitude for their contributions to the growth of football in the region.

Najahu Issah, the Goalkeepers trainer of Kumasi Asante Kotoko, joined in praising both clubs for their remarkable achievements throughout the season, even though neither of them was crowned champion.

He acknowledged their investment in the sport and encouraged them to remain steadfast, as better opportunities may lie ahead.

Najahu advised Wa United FC and Wa FC to foster unity and let go of any disappointments from the past season.

Recognizing the potential synergy between the two clubs, he highlighted the importance of mutual support for their future endeavors.

Additionally, he took the opportunity to sensitize the clubs about the significance of thorough player registration to avoid any bans and encouraged them to file protests that could potentially earn them valuable points.

Najahu Issah Identifies Kaweel Abudu (Wa United Fc) and Samuel Awuah (Wa Fc) as rising stars and encourages their respective clubs to capitalize on their exceptional skills.

Issah Mumuni another representative of the Retired Footballers Association, described the meeting as a pivotal step toward the development of football in the region.

He urged Wa United FC and Wa FC to deepen their collaboration, emphasizing that a united front would enhance the growth and development of the sport in the Upper West Region.

In response, Yussif Ali, the goalkeeper’s trainer at Wa FC, expressed his gratitude for the meeting and acknowledged its significance.

He urged all clubs to maintain fairness and integrity in their activities, cautioning against the use of black magic or “juju” in the sport.

Ali also clarified that the Upper West chapter of the Retired Footballers Association has not involved itself in the administration of football in the region.

The Public Relations Officer (P.R.O) of Wa United FC, Mr. Tajudeen Alhassan, expressed his gratitude to the Retired Footballers Association for their instrumental role in facilitating a constructive meeting between two clubs currently entangled in a series of protests.

Mr. Tajudeen reassured football enthusiasts that Wa United FC harbors no negative intentions towards any club. He emphasized that their actions were solely aimed at pursuing their goals and striving for success within the sport.

Several prominent personalities in the meeting have emphasized the importance of collective efforts and collaboration to maximize the benefits of investing in football.
