DBI Agric Director Counts Loses From 2021 Flood

The floods which took place in several districts of the Upper West region in 2021 is said to have adversely affected farming activities in the Dafiama-Busie-Issa District.

Addressing the chiefs and people of the Dafiama-Busie-Issa District in a farming community Dafiama-Moyiri, the District Director for Agriculture, Tiereke Nicholas, highlighted the impact of the devastating floods on farming.

“These disasters had severe impacts along the Agricutural value chains starting from the farmer to the end user”, The District Director told stakeholders.

However, the District Director also revealed with the dedication of his staff, they were able to efficiently carry out their mandate.

This he said has resulted in the desired results of creating jobs, food security and adding value to agro products.

Mr. Tiereke Nicholas was however unhappy that bungalows meant for staff of his department are rather being occupied by other departmental staff, making it difficult for his staff to operate at optimal levels.

However the 38th annual farmers Day celebration staged in Moyiri crowned 58 year old Sunday Batieminey from Chabaa as overall best Farmer while John Bosco Bamuriba of Dakyie was adjuded 1st runner up. Madam Mary Ngmenyogle of Moyiri was 2nd runner up.
