A total of 80 enumerators will be recruited in the Wa West District to reevaluate the Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) program within the district to gauge its success and effects on the populace.

The only areas chosen for the pilot exercise are the Wa West District and Nandom Municipal Assemblies, Madam Vida Diorotey, the District Chief Executive for Wa West, revealed to the Home Radio news desk in an exclusive interview on Wednesday, December 7, 2022.

She claims that the main goal of the program is to find enumerators who will enter the diverse communities in the district and gather information about how the beneficiaries of the pro-poor policies are affected.

The Livelihood Empowerment Against Poverty (LEAP) is a cash transfer program introduced by the government of Gnana for extremely poor and vulnerable households which have the following categories of eligible members who include, Orphaned and vulnerable children (OVC),
Persons with severe disabilities without any productive capacity and elderly persons who are 65 years and above.

She continued by saying that the reassessment process would show whether or not the program’s primary goal had been accomplished.

The DCE stated that after conducting interviews with the enumerators, they will shortly be sent out to the various areas to begin the exercise.

She reassured the audience that no eligible beneficiary currently enrolled in the system will be dropped from the program as a result of the reassessment exercise as more beneficiaries would be added.

She did, however, take advantage of the chance to use the media to urge all parties involved in the program particularly the assembly members in the district to take it seriously and give accurate information to the enumerators when they visit their neighborhoods.
