LifeAgain organizes its second edition of teenage mother’s leadership conference

A Non-governmental organization called “LifeAgain” based in Wa, the Upper West Regional capital on Thursday, 9th March, 2023 has organized its second edition of teenage mother’s leadership conference with the aim of supporting teenage girls and mothers to overcome teetjing challenges facing.

Addressing hundreds of teenage mothers at Wa Regional Library, the Founder and Executive director for “LifeAgain” Madam Saudatu Mohammed stated that, the main aim or purpose of LifeAgain is to support teenage mothers who dropped out of school and also empower young girls to prevent teenage pregnancies and related problems.

Mad. Saudatu said, the organization over a period of 3 years has sponsored 40 teenage mothers in the region which saw some of them go back to school to continue their education while the rest of them chose to learn a trade.

She mentioned that, the attendance of this year’s edition was 120 teenage mothers as against 50 last year.

The director pointed out that poverty and poor parental care are the main reason for all the problems facing teenage mothers as she called for concerted efforts to life better for teenage mothers.

The regional director for the department of Gender, Madam Charity Batuuro on her part encouraged teenage mothers to cooperate with LifeAgain in order to make informed decisions.

Madam Charity assured that her outfit is ready to partner with NGOs like LifeAgain for a better life and to get them back to school and to acquire skills training for their livelihood.

The Regional public relations officer of the Ghana Education Service, Mr. Justine Kpan told the teenage mothers that, the government through the Ministry of Education has issued a directive to all basic schools to give them the opportunity to teenage mothers get them back to school after delivery.

He thanked LifeAgain and other partners for supporting the teenage mothers to plan their lives
for a brighter future.

Some beneficiaries shared their experiences and thanked the LifeAgain for this opportunity.
