We will do everything to make sure military brutality is not repeated- President vows
President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has apologised to the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Area, Naa Fuseini Seidu Pelpuo IV, and to the people of Wa for the brutalities meted out to some residents by some soldiers earlier this month.
He said the unfortunate incident was one of the reasons for his visit to the Upper West Region.
The military leaders alongside the Minister for Defense and the Interior were in the region and they promised to deal with those who are responsible for the dastardly act.
They rendered the apologies of government and indicated that government will also be responsible for the medical bills of those who were injured in the exercise.
Addressing the Wa Naa and some traditional rulers on Tuesday 13th July,2021, the president was happy that the commitments made by the high powered delegation have been respected.
He commended the Overlord of the Waala Traditional Council for recognizing the promise
made while saying “I was very happy to read in the news papers that you yourself have come out to recognize that the promised that have been made have been kept and that now we should put that incident behind us and go forward and I want to congratulate you on the very statesmanlike pronouncements that you made on that occasion.”
“So I have come to add my voice to that of the soldiers as well as the minister for defense to say how sorry I am about the incident and to let you know that we will do everything to possible make sure such an incident is not repeated.” he stated.
