DBI DCE hands over a 3-unit classroom block to the Fian community

Fian, a community located in the Dafiama Busie Issa (DBI) district of the Upper West Region, is celebrating the recent handover of a three-unit classroom block on Thursday, June 9th, 2023.

The Chiefs and people of Fian expressed immense gratitude for the new facility, which is intended for the Fian Tendamba Junior High School.

The school had previously been operating in a structure constructed by the community several years ago.

During the handover ceremony, the District Chief Executive (DCE) for DBI, Hon. Nadi Imoro Sanda, commended the contractor for completing the project in a remarkably short time.

Despite the economic challenges facing the country, the government recognizes the importance of investing in education.

Hon. Imoro Sanda emphasized that President Nana Akufo-Addo is dedicated to education, as evidenced by the introduction of the Free Senior High School policy.

The DCE also cautioned community members against encroaching on the school land. He hinted that in the future, Fian could potentially have a tertiary institution, which would play a pivotal role in the rapid development of the area.

Mr. Samson Anawine, the District Director for Education in DBI, expressed gratitude to the DCE and the assembly for providing the facility to the education directorate.

He highlighted the DCE’s consistent commitment to improving education in the district and pledged to work closely with him to deliver quality education to the children.

Hon. Stephen Katuole, the assembly member for the area and Presiding Member of the DBI assembly, conveyed the community’s delight over the project.

He assured that community members would assist in preserving the building and supporting the school.

The three-unit fully furnished classroom block includes a storeroom, staff common room, office, and another storeroom. Additionally, the project features a four-unit KVIP toilet facility and a urinary system.

Earlier on the same day, the DBI DCE, Hon. Nadi Imoro Sanda presented 300 dual desk furniture to the education directorate in Issa.

This initiative aims to address the issue of pupils sitting on the floor during teaching and learning sessions.
