Tech Fare: Wa Senior High Technical School Edges Out Defending Champions Great WASEC In Energy Commission’s Renewable Energy Challenge
Wa Senior High Technical School sealed a place in the zonal stages of the annual Energy Commission’s Renewable Energy Challenge in a fiercely contested regional championship in Wa.
The annual technology based regional contest, saw seven schools culled from the region to showcase their practical understanding of technology and how it can be used to preserve energy.
As the host school for the seven school championship, Wa SHTS shook off competition from defending Champions Great WASEC in a photofinish separated by 2 points at the top three.
In it’s fourth edition in the Upper West Region, the event was graced by Regional Director of Education Mr Razak Koray and other top ranking officials of the Ghana Education service.
The host school recorded 68 points to pick the ultimate ahead of second placed Kanton SHS with 67.3 points.
Defending Champions Wa SHS dropped to third with 66 points whiles Wa Technical Institute popped the table.
St Francis Girls SHS pocketed 61 points to make the top four ahead of Jirapa Senior High School and Queen of Peace.
Each competing school was given a hamper and citation at the end of the keenly contested regional championship.
All 21 students who contested in the tech fare were all certified as well in a programme highly recommended by the Regional Director of Education.
This year’s edition, operating under the theme “mechanized small scale agriculture using renewable energy technologies”, saw students from the Basic schools trooping to the venue to witness how to apply their classroom knowledge.
Wa Senior High Technical School will represent Upper West Region in the Zonal championship en route to the national showdown in Kumasi.
