U/WR: GHACEM Manager Commends GSA For Clamping Down on Fake Cement

The Upper West Regional manager for GHACEM, Mr. Brian Sotaa Seidu has lauded the Ghana Standards Authority for taking steps to rid the market off substandard cement.

This comes in the wake of the Ghana Standards Authority closing down some three cement manufacturing companies namely Unicem, Kumasi cement and Safe cement.

According to the Upper West regional manager of Ghacem, cement is an integral part of construction in Ghana hence, the need to use approved cement for best results.

He added “It’s good news to know that, the regulatory body, Ghana Standards Authority is ensuring safety by weeding out cement products that are not of the required quality “.

Mr. Brian Sotaa said much as he is into the sales of cement , he is also particular about the quality so as to safeguard life and property.

“I deal in GHACEM cement because it’s an approved product. If I should deal in any substandard cement and a building should collapse, who knows whether myself or my child might be a victim?”, the GHACEM capo queried.

The Upper West regional manager of Ghacem also admonished residents of the Upper West region to choose quality approved cement because using fake products have dire consequences.

“In this our area we are poor people and a poor person who wants to put up a building must use the appropriate material which can last a lifetime”.

In recent times, there have been the collapse of many buildings across the length and breath of the country and many experts believe it’s as a result of the use of substandard building materials.

In a related development, there are media reports which indicate that the three cement manufacturing companies which were shutdown by the Ghana Standards Authority bounced back to work a day after staff of the regulatory authority left their premises.
