Exclusive: Ghana Water Limited Disconnects Regional Hospital, Police Barracks and Other Top Institutions

The Upper West branch of Ghana Water Limited has disconnected Upper West Regional Hospital from the national grid for accumulated debt.

Reliable sources from Ghana Water Limited hinted that the Upper West Regional Hospital owed them close to GHC200,000 with series of reminders failing on each occasion.

As part of their national revenue mobilization programme, management of Ghana Water Limited disconnected their supply of water to the regional hospital alongside some notable institutions in the Upper West Region.

Among the facilities disconnected are some Police Barracks for similar accumulated debts.

The Airport , which was also disconnected for similar debts, was later reconnected after payment of part of their arrears.

The current extensive mobilization exercise is to increase the operational area of Ghana Water, allowing them to supply quality service to their clients.

The Upper West Regional Hospital, orphaned from its inception, is currently facing a lot of financial problems due to the absence of seed money and other supporting services from state machinery.

The facility , with a 160-bed capacity , was commissioned by HE Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo Addo without any seed capital to lessen their financial woes.
