UW: Wa East MP Sponsors Over 100 Constituents for Free surgical Care

The office of the Wa East Member of Parliament Hon Godfred Seidu Jasaw in collaboration of West Africa Humanitarian Agency (WAHA) – Turkish, a Non-governmental Organization (NGO) on Saturday 2 March, 2024 led a team of Health professional to start doing Free surgical operations on over 100 people with various health conditions in the Constituency.

The MP, according his Representative Adamu Shaibu at the Hospital, said the operations included Hernias, lipomas, hydroceles and other minor surgeries and would be done within the expected numbers required.

Persons mostly elderly people were transported by the Member of Parliament for Wa East to the health facility which is Wa municipal hospital to undertake their surgery.
According him, the MP would ensure that those listed to benefit from the surgery would make it to the hospital to get their surgery done for them freely.

Screening was carried out in the constituency that detected that mostly the elderly within the constituency had such problems, that are needed surgery whiles others needed health educations.
The MP representative, who is also an assembly member for Tuasa Electoral Area has landed the effort of the lawmaker for such an initiative to support the health problems of the people in the Constituency.
He lamented on how people with such conditions are struggling to access treatment due to financial constraints.
The MP according to the Rep, is aiming at strengthening quality and better health care delivery in the Constituency for his people.

The Head of the Theatre department for the Wa municipal hospital, Dr. Ahmed Boyelle has also the MP and his Turkish partners for supporting the people to undergo this surgical operations in the hospital.
He said, the medical team were able to operate 17 cases at the first day and hopefully the rest of the people will be done within the time schedule.

Dr. Ahmed indicated that, some of the people would have suffered severely if this opportunity wouldn’t have come to support them, because their cases were too serious. Cases like hernia, lipomas, hydroceles and some other minor problems were detected during the screening exercise.
The Doctor however used the opportunity to appeal to the general public to get medical attention early, in order to prevent further health complications.

Some of the beneficiaries who also spoke Home Radio network expressed their delightfulness and thanked the Member of Parliament for the Wa East district and the Turkish sponsors for such kind support as their health is concerned.
