The Sissala Community at Wa in the Upper West region on February 15, 2025, enskinned a 75-year-old man, Kuoro Braimah Issah Balu III, as the new Sissala Chief. Kuoro Braimah Issah Balu is a retired Court registrar in the Judicial Service and is married with two wives.
The colorful coronation was attended by Paramount and divisional Chiefs across the Sissala areas, including Wa Naa representatives and people from all walks of life, particularly the sons and daughters of Sissala who traveled from far and near to grace the occasion.
The people were extremely happy with the rich, beautiful culture of the Sissala people, showcased by the Sissala Group. It was a traditional affair at the event, as chiefs and the Sissala people took to the floor to display their traditional dancing skills to the admiration of the guests.
The Paramount Chief of Gwollu, Kuoru Bajor Limann V, in his enskinment message, read by Kuoru Abdu-Rahman Baatah IV on his behalf, urged the newly enskinned chief to serve his people with humility and wisdom to earn their respect and loyalty. He advised the Sissala Community to use chieftaincy as a tool to foster peace, unity, and development.
Kuoru Bajor Limann V congratulated Kuoru Braimah Issah Balu III on his new position as Chief of Wa for the Sissala Community and wished him well in his leadership role.
In his acceptance speech, Kuoru Braimah Issah Balu III expressed his profound gratitude to the traditional authorities and the entire family of the Sissala Community for the opportunity to lead and champion peace, unity, and development. He called for togetherness to enable the Sissala Community in Wa to stay peacefully and unite with the Wa Naa and other ethnic groups’ Chiefs within the Wa Municipality of the Upper West region.
The guest speaker, Alhaj Amidu Suleman, former Upper West regional Minister, eulogized Kuoru Braimah Issah Balu III for his kindness and humility. Alhaj Amidu also thanked Wa Naa for his kindness and the cordial relationship with the Sissala people in Wa over the years. He urged the Sissala Community to support the new Chief financially to enable him to deliver his mandate.
