The DHLTU Alumni Association of the school donated 20 marker boards worth GHC 15,000 to their alma mater to improve the learning environment for students. The donation by the association was necessary due to the deteriorating condition of the old marker boards.

During the presentation of the items to the Vice Chancellor on Wednesday, February 26, 2025, the Alumni President, Mr. Anaakaa Warris, made the donation on behalf of his fellow executives. He indicated that the alumni felt compelled to act due to the deplorable conditions of the marker boards, which made teaching and learning difficult for students and lecturers. According to the president, the association is proud to assist its alma mater in enhancing teaching and learning, but it is disheartening to see students at DHLTU struggling in poor conditions to study.

Mr. Warris emphasized that the association’s members made sacrifices despite economic challenges to support the school and improve the situation on campus.

In receiving the items, the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Elias N. K. Sowley, expressed his profound gratitude to the alumni for such a generous gesture. He stated that this donation would contribute to the development of the school and improve teaching and learning. He added that the donation was highly appreciated as it saved the university some money, as they were preparing to procure these items.

He mentioned that the university cannot develop without the support of its alumni, as seen in other institutions across the country. He encouraged the alumni to maintain a good relationship with the university and continue assisting in its development.

The Vice Chancellor also highlighted some challenges confronting the university, particularly the lack of student hostels. He took the opportunity to appeal to stakeholders, philanthropists, and businesspeople to emulate the alumni by collaborating with the university to build hostels and undertake other developmental projects to increase enrollment and generate more resources.
