The Supreme Court has granted the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and its candidates in Okaikwei North, Ablekuma North, Tema Central, and Techiman South constituencies permission to file responses to the Electoral Commission (EC).

This follows a Certiorari application filed by the NDC and its four parliamentary candidates after the Accra High Court ordered the EC to collate and declare results for the four constituencies.

To date, the EC has declared results for three constituencies, with the results for Ablekuma North still pending.

Earlier in the proceedings, the applicants faced challenges serving the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidates. However, the Supreme Court intervened, ordering substituted service for the NPP candidates.

When the case was called on Thursday, April 3, 2025, the applicants’ lawyers requested additional time to respond to the EC’s reply to the application.

Justin Amenuvor, counsel for the EC, opposed the request, arguing that the seven-day response window had already passed.

Nevertheless, the Supreme Court granted the applicants an additional seven days to file their responses.
