The Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency, Hon. Dr. Godfred Seidu Jasaw, has commended the heroic actions of Senior Enrolled Nurse Iddris Abdul Latif, who saved the lives of a mother and her baby in a dramatic bush delivery, and has pledged to fully sponsor the nurse’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing program.
The incident occurred when a pregnant woman, referred to the Wa Municipal Hospital for delivery, unexpectedly went into labour en route to the facility. Without medical equipment or assistance, Abdul Latif intervened and successfully delivered the baby in a nearby bush.
Dr. Jasaw described Latif’s as “a shining example of commitment to humanity and the nursing profession”.
The MP’s appreciation for Nurse Latif’s actions extends beyond commendation, as he also disclosed plans to expand the maternity ward of the Gudaayiri CHPS Compound to enhance maternal health services and prevent similar emergencies in the future. Latif’s selfless act has drawn widespread praise, highlighting the dedication and bravery of rural health workers in Ghana.
