MP pledges to support Brifor SHS with relief items

The Member of Parliament for Lawra Constituency in the Upper West Region, Hon. Bede Zeideng paid a visit to Brifor Senior High School to console students of the school following a fire outbreak.

The fire outbreak occurred at about 8:30 am on Friday, April 23rd, 2021, but was brought under control with the cause unidentified.

Girls Dormitory of the school was severely damaged leading to the loss of educational materials and some personal belongings of about 60 students including some first years who have just reported.

The MP during his visit inspected the affected block and interacted with teachers, students, and staff of the school.

He urged the students to stay calm and said “we are here to console you and share with you in your pain, these are difficult times and you are not alone in this, be assured we are with you and we will support you as best as we can”.

The MP further revealed he will collaborate with the MCE for Lawra Municipal and NADMO to provide the necessary relief support to the victims.

Hon. Bede Zeideng gave 150 bags of sachet water to the victims and added he will collaborate with the school authorities to advise him properly on what emergency relief to provide.

Senior Girls Perfect (GP) of the school, Iddrissu Hajeri lamented over the damage of the fire outbreak and asked for immediate support from the MP and the general public, especially with learning materials.

After evacuating the affected students to other dormitories, the Girls Prefect appealed for fans to be installed in the overcrowded rooms for enough ventilation.

The Head of the Social Studies department, Mr. Augustine thanked the MP on behalf of the school for the visit and urged him to support the school with more infrastructure.
