Wa-Tumu Road to be worked on- Minister pledged

Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, the Upper West Regional Minister has pledged to complete the construction of the Wa-Tumu road in his second term of office.

The Wa-Tumu trunk road if constructed will facilitate business transaction between the Sissala Districts and other parts of the ccountry.

Speaking at a meeting with Municipal and District Coordinating directors, the Minister said his attention is on the Wa-Tumu-Bolga road as he is already discussing with the Sector Minister over the completion of the much talked about road project in the region.

He explained “Roads are of important to me but there is one particular road that we are going to focus on: that is the Wa-Tumu Bolga Road. I have already discussed with the minister of roads, once I settle I will go back so that we see how we are going to work on it. Portions of it have been awarded. Portions that have not been awarded we will package it and give it to contractors.”

Due to the deplorable conditions of the road, maize buyers from the southern parts of the country are unable to patronise the maize produce in the area as well as impeding the movement of people, goods and services from the area.

The bad nature of the road has also denied the District Assemblies the needed revenue while the identity of the Sissala maize was also been denied.
