UWR: MP for Wa West Commissions Refurbished Maternity ward for Kangba Community

The Member of Parliament for Wa West Constituency, Hon. Peter Lanchena Toobu has commissioned a newly refurbished maternity ward for the CHPS facility in kangba.

The three-bedroom structure has a lying-in room, delivery room and reception unit for pregnant women and visitors.

The project is an initiative of the Member of Parliament and was heavily funded by ASHFAR Foundation.

The Health Maternity was commissioned on 20th June 2022 by the MP, the ceremony was attended by members of the ASHFAR group, the Ghana Health Services, and the leadership of the community.

The MP speaking at the commissioning, thanked the ASHFAR group for their support of the people of Kangba in the Wa West District.

He stated that it has been his priority as an MP to provide a good health delivery system to ensure a healthy population in the Wa West constituency for nation-building.

He further noted that maternal mortalities are unacceptable in this modern time and he believes the maternity ward will help reduce maternal mortality in the area.

CEO of ASHFAR Group, Farida Afademeh thanked the people of Kangba for their cooperation during the project.

The ASHFAR Group equipment the refurbished maternity with, four maternity beds, a refrigerator and two(2) kilowatts solar power systems.

The Kangba CHPs zone serves over 2,497 people in six communities, namely Balawa, Siiru, Jedo, Daboziiri, Nankpaanabule and kangba.
