Yakubu Umar Kunateh writes: the vetting committee has a Herculean task at hand

As Wa Central Constituency MCE aspirants takes their vetting tommorow, many staunch supporters and sympathisers are looking up to the vetting committee and subsequently the appointing body to do due deligence for the general interest of the party.

My little random survey and interactions with some party people reveals the following:

1. The Party and the Constituency needs a unifier. It a very known fact that, the party is not solid. Petty squabbles are disturbing the inner peace of the Constituency. This leads to various factions/blocks within the Constituency. Eg Hajia Humu block, Kamara-Isaac block and the grassroot block.

2. The Constituency needs an outstanding personality that can make the party attractive both internally and externally.

3. The next Mce will surely be a determinable factor as to whether the party can sleep and think of winning the Wa Central Constituency seat for the first time. His works both for the party and the municipality in general will attest to this assertion.

4. There is the general feeling among the base of the part that, grassroot members are neglected, thus killing their energy in working for the party.

5. Accessibility and visibility should be of key concern. Because when politicians are accessible and visible, it builds solid bond among party grassroot and energies them to work strongly.

6. Appointing an Mce who belongs to any of the above factions/block will still open wounds of aggrieved party foot soldiers who may decide to vent their anger on the party in general by voting against the party.

7. Wa Central Constituency or the Municipality, a cosmopolitan society needs an Mce who understands the “balance” of the municipality very well. This will give renewed hope to the base of the party thus allowing the party to grow into the strong areas of the NDC. This will automatically increase the population of the party.

In conclusion therefore, the vetting committee has a Herculean task of assessing properly the Nineteen (19) applicants very well and making recommendations in consonance with the interest of the general masses of the party.

You may disagree with my assertion, you are entitled to your opinion.

Shalom!
