Sissala East Youth launch “Friends of Chinnia’ to back Parliamentary bid

A group of young people numbering over three hundred affiliated with the New Patriotic Party, (NPP) has, on August 7, 2020, at the Tumu Community Center, launched a youth wing christened “Friends of Chinnia Amidu, FOCA” in the run-up to the December 2020 general elections.

The youth drawn from different communities in the Sissala East Municipality are seeking to consolidate themselves and contribute to the efforts being made by the party to secure victory for the Parliamentary candidate who is also the Deputy Regional Minister for the Upper West region, Issahaku Amidu Chinnia and party’s Presidential candidate of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo Addo.

Speaking during the launch, the President of FOCA, Mr. Quanda Osman Mohammed said “we are a group of people who are looking for a good leader to serve as the next Member of Parliament after December 2020 general elections.
Consequently, he and the rest of the members have joined hands to support Issahaku Amidu Chinnia with the sole mission of securing victory for him”.
“We are a youth who wants a good leader for us. What we wish to see come 2020 elections is for Chinnia Amidu and Akufo Addo to be in power and continue with the good work being done”.

The FOCA President, Mr. Quander Osman Mohammed also expressed optimism that Issahaku Amidu Chinnia if given the nod would come to their rescue more particularly in terms of education opportunities and solve the numerous unemployment challenges confronting them. He also requested for an office where the youth wing could hold meetings.

Mr Amidu Chinnia Issahaku ,the parliamentary candidate on whose behalf the group met in addressing the youth admonished them to use existing party structures in their pursuit:,
“I want to state that FOCA is not a replacement of community polling station executives. Upon your entry into every community, first and foremost announce your arrival to the party structures there. You are being formed to complement what we are doing….. anything other than that I may call for your dissolution”, he warned.

He also advised the party leadership “to work openly with them and desist from causing hindrances that could undermine the work of the youth wing so that collectively they would secure victory”.
Later addressing a large crowd of party sympathizers, the NPP parliamentary hopeful “urged them to avoid politics of hatred and insults, and stop tagging people in their party as supporters of either him or Ridwan Abass Dawuda, the incumbent M.P who lost the NPP 2020 primaries to him”.
He refuted social media claims suggesting that the event was organized to launch his campaign manifesto, but appealed to leadership of the wing for extension of FOCA to every community in the Sissala East Constituency.
On the demand for an office, the Deputy minister and parliamentary candidate said “I have taken note of the concern , and that he would support FOCA with whatever they need to work with”.
