Wa Suntaa SC were held to a 0-0 stalemate at the Wa Park on 2nd May, 2021 by Kintampo FC in the 2020/21 division one league season.

The match day 19 encounter did not lived to the billing as neither side was superior in the entire duration of the match.

After sharing the spoils, Wa Suntaa and Kintampo FC have 21 and 22 points respectively placing them in the bottom half of the division-one-league-zone-one table.

Home Radio Sports Desk looks at the performance of Wa Suntaa players after the cagey affair with Kintampo FC.

ABDUL RAFIU YAKUBU (GK) – 5/10

Rafiu was not his usual self on the day. His confidence was very low after making some few mistakes that could have break the heart of Suntaa.

However, the shot stopper capped the day with a clean sheet to add to the growing number of clean sheets under his belt.

MICHEAL FRIMPONG (RB) – 5/10

Playing as a right back today, Frimpong has a near disappointing afternoon after losing possession in dangerous areas for the umpteenth time.

That notwithstanding, he proved difficult for his marker and won some duels to his name. He got himself substituted after a hit on his shoulder.

ISAAH SIDIK LEFTEE (LB) – 6.5/10

His marauding runs on the left side of the field received rave reviews from the fans. His free kicks and crosses troubled the opposing goalkeeper. He was unfortunate not to have scored on the day.

SEIDU AHMED MALIK (CB) – 6/10

Malik has an improved performance compared to the last outing at home. He still need to work hard as he gave the ball away cheaply at times.

SALIFU IDDRISU NBANAA (CB) – 6.5/10

The center back had a commanding performance after thwarting every attack thrown at them by the away side. His clearances were timely and his aerial ability was a threat to their counterparts.

ALONSO SAMAD (CM) – 6/10

Alonso carried out his job satisfactorily after controlling proceedings for large portions of the game. He was ever present in midfield and occasionally dashed forward to join the attack.

But his energy level dropped dramatically towards the end of the game and few of his passes were not productive in the dying embers of the game.

ABDUL LATIF OLU (CM) – 8/10

Olu has a superb afternoon and was a delight to watch. He was the live wire to Wa Suntaa and provided creativity in the middle. He covered more grounds and won more take on’s than any other player on the field. He definitely had a good day in the office.

BABA IBRAHIM OKOCHA (CAM) – 5/10

Okocha was more of a peripheral figure for Suntaa. His creativity and contribution in creating big chances was missing. He drived forward a few times but his impact was less felt.

NUHU JALILU (RAM) – 5/10

Arguably the most exciting player on the pitch with nimble feet and deft touches.  He showed flashes of his creativity on the flanks but failed to break the defense of Kintampo FC. He focused much on attack thereby leaving the right back exposed.

RANIOUS ALIPIO (LAM) – 7.5/10

Deployed out wide on the left side of attack. The former Bolga Allstar winger tried to make things happen on the attacking third of Suntaa. He was purposeful upfront in the opening half but failed to unsettle the opposing defense.

BABA OSMAN GORO (ST) – 7.5/10

Goro held his own as the lone striker against a very physical Kintampo FC defense.

He worked very hard for the team, although he could certainly have done better holding up play in key moments to allow his teammates into the action.

As a striker or attacker, he needs to work more in the area of shooting or taking on defenders. He had a big chance and could have scored in stoppage time but he uncharacteristically passed the ball in search of his attacking partner which was eventually cleared for corner.

SUBSTITUTES

AMOS TANG (RB) – 4/10

Came on for Michael Frimpong in the 77th minute and cleared a ball that was destined to go into the net. His crosses and free kicks were spot on and proved difficult for the away side.

MOHAMMED CHIEF (CAM) – 4/10

Replaced Baba Okocha in the the attacking midfield role. Looked unsettled during his time on the pitch.

EMMANUEL PARTEY -4/10

Came on for Jalilu and spearheaded the attack. He looked determined and ambitious with some few touches and shots but time was not on his side.
