Speaker Of Parliament Pledges Commitment To Stop Carnage On Roads
The Speaker of Parliament Rt. Hon Alban S K Bagbin has pledged his commitment to champion an advocacy to stop the carnage on our roads.
The Speaker observed that road traffic accidents account for high cases of deaths recorded in the country annually.
The Speaker said this when a management team from JoyNews and Multi-media Group paid a courtesy call on him in parliament to present him with copies of its documentary titled ‘CRUSHED’, as part of it contribution to address the increasing number of road accidents in the country. The documentary captures chilling details of how many families have lost loved ones to road carnage.
Speaking at a brief presentation ceremony, Speaker Bagbin assured the team that he would involve Parliament in this advocacy by tasking not just the Committees of the parliament, but parliament as a whole to discuss and analyse the current road traffic challenges and come up with proposals that will be implemented by the government, in order to curb the growing, yet unfortunate trend.
