“This is the time for peace and cooperation; not for violence and divisiveness”- Dr Kwabena Duffuor

Former Minister of Finance, Dr Kwabena Duffuor has called for leaders to guard against violence and divisiveness and prioritize the health, prosperity and safety of Ghanaians.

According to him, Ghanaians should remain peaceful and not resort to conflict amidst widespread hunger and suffering.

He made this known after former president John Dramani Mahama accused the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) of using state security operatives to rig the 2020 elections and served notice that elections 2024 will be different because the NDC will protect the ballots at all cost.

Without mincing words, the former president reiterated that the next general elections in 2024 will be a “Do or die affair” especially at the pooling stations were elections are won.

The 2020 general election was not without chaos as several people lost their lives and many others sustaining various degrees of injury.

But the former governor of Bank of Ghana explained that leadership is not about ego or election but putting the health, prosperity and safety of Ghanaians first.

“Our children are hungry, our people are hurting, let’s not resort to conflict but come together for the betterment of all.” he said

Dr Kwabena Duffuor further stated that the country will be triumphant if the leaders attain victory and that the affluent should impact the lives of the poor.

“When the country wins, its leader wins, and the success of the weakest among us should be the only priority for the strongest among us.”

“This can not be achieved through harsh words, violence or politicking, but through peace, humility and hard work. In these times of great uncertainty, it is important to remember that words matter and carry great weight!”

“May we all put Ghana first, and remember that party colours will never trump the unity of red, yellow and green.”
