Upper West: SIX Clubs Set For Regional Division II Middle League

Six third tier clubs in the upper west region are set for a crunch Regional Division II Middle League at the Wa Malik Jabir Sports stadium.

The annual qualification showdown has Sombo Freedom Stars FC, Wa Yaasin FC, Wa United FC, Ziko Babies FC, Happy Stars FC and Kpujinan SC competing for the sole division one slot at the regional level.

The weeklong event is expected to reroute media traffic in the upper west region with all eyes on the perennial participants and the dark horses of the championship.

Sombo Freedom Stars FC, round of 64 finalist in the 2021 MTN FA Cup, brushed aside members in their group to pick the sole slot at the group level and will need the exploits of Antumwine Victor and kutenge Gafaru to pick the sole division one slot from the 6-team showdown.

Wa Yaasin FC, led by Yahaya Ridwan, Mohammed Taylor, and Banye Theophilus, are heavily tipped to finally seal the elusive division one qualification when they kick off the qualifiers on Tuesday, September 22, 2021.

Former Wa Suntaa SC trainer, Abdul Aziz Kandumah John, returns to the third tier of Ghana football with the newly established Wa United FC in search of another qualification at the regional level. Abdul Aziz Kandumah John has not lost a single league match at the regional level since 2016 spanning across Wa SUntaa SC and Wa United FC.

Ziko Babies FC, under the tactical guidance of Tahiru Shaibu, will need the creativity of his midfield trio of Rahim, Salim and Toahir to stand the chance of picking the sole slot at the regional level.

The four teams from the Wa Zone will be joined Tumu Happy Stars FC and kpujinan SC for the week long football festival.
