PTA donates streetlights to Wa Technical Institute

The Parent Teacher Association (PTA) of Wa Technical Institute in Wa in the Upper West Region has given 20 streetlights worth Ghs 9,000 to enhance lighting and security at the school.

The group had been asked by the school administration to assist with improving lighting on campus.

The PTA Chairman, Mr. Ilias Yakubu, stated at a brief ceremony held in the school’s assembly hall on Friday, September 16, 2022 that the his out had provided the school with a variety of on-campus amenities for years.

“We are here to donate to the school after we have heard complaints and challenges about your lighting system. The school management wrote to PTA asking for assistance, and as you are all aware light is one of the most important things when night falls. And for that matter as parents, we did not hesitate and that is why we are here to present 20 pieces of streetlights to ensure the entire school is bright for you to go about your duties on campus.” the PTA Chairman noted.

He used the occasion to demand increased security around Wa Technical Institute in light of recent homicides in the neighborhood.

He also disclosed that the PTA had set up a clinic with the necessary medications and a nurse stationed there to address the medical requirements of students on campus.

Saaka Adams, the school’s principal, expressed gratitude to the PTA and encouraged former students to get involved in resolving some of the issues the school is facing.

The principal claims that the school’s population has grown over the past few years, which has led to significant infrastructure gaps that need to be filled.
