Wa East MP Hon Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw Laments Military Brutalities In His Constituency

Member of Parliament for Wa East Constituency Hon Dr Godfred Seidu Jasaw has lamented the recent military brutalities in his constituency that led to the massive arrest of over 40 people.

The lawmaker chronicled events that led to the arrest of 40 people within the Kpanamuna enclave with several properties and other valuables lost.

A war-like military operation along some communities in the Wa East has left many netizens traumatized and frustrated following the mass arrest.

Using his official social media handles to air his views on the near fatal war mongering display at selected communities in the constituency.

A statement from the Hon Dr Seidu Jasaw reads, “I have just been informed that a team of military men have come to Manwe in the Wa East District of the Upper West Region and meted out some brutalities and destroyed some properties.

This follows a similar action 2 days ago in another village in the same district called Kpanamuna- here, I’m informed houses were burnt and items destroyed and about 40 people were arrested and sent to Wa.
What kind of operation is this?

What happened to the Ghana Police role in ensuring internal security of the state?

What are the soldiers looking for that the police can’t find?

Why are properties being destroyed?

I’ve already asked the regional minister and DCE these questions and waiting for answers.
I’m deeply sad.

I urge everyone including the communities affected to remain calm as we get to the bottom of this.

Let’s continue to be law abiding and obey instructions from these soldiers to avoid further assaults while we continue to get this resolved”.

Details of the mass arrests are sketchy for now as the story develops along the week.
