UWR: GIZ Calls on the Media for Enhance Visibility of EU-REACH Project

Deutsche Gesellschaft für
Internationale Zusammenarbeit(GIZ), has called on the media to enhance the visibility, awareness, and participation in the European Union-funded Resilience Against Climate Change (REACH) Project in the Upper West Region.

This was made at a workshop held in Wa on Wednesday 8th December 2021 at Nouyong Empire Hotel.

The workshop was attended by over 40 media personalities from print, radio, television and online.

Mr Simon Kunyagna, Deputy Project Manager at the workshop emphasised the importance of engagement with the media as stakeholders of the project.

He noted that the media acts as an effective conduit for reaching out to the masses with timely information relevant for improving their knowledge base.

According to the REACH project team, the project is to promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth in rural communities of the joint program area by supporting climate-smart planning and the implementation of conservation agricultural practices in a minimum of 200 communities by 2024.

The “Resilience Against Climate Change” (REACH) Project forms part of the European Unions
Ghana National Indicative Programme 2014-2020.

The overall objective to increase agricultural
incomes, promote inclusive and sustainable economic growth in rural communities of the Joint
Programme Area (PA) by 2024.

The joint programme area includes all eleven Districts in the
Upper West Region, Sawla-Tuna- Kalba, North Gonja in the Savannah Region, and Mamprugu
Moagduri in the North East Region of Ghana.
