Lambussie Community day school has its roof fixed after 2 years

Lambussie Community day Senior High School has its roof fixed after several appeals by the school and the President of the Lambussie Traditional Council.

This was revealed by the District Chief Executive for Lambussie, Hon. George Gerard Nalurig at the 65th independence anniversary held in Lambussie yesterday.

Pupils have been exposed to the vagaries of the weather, studying under weak, patched-roof classrooms which flood when it rains, disrupting learning hours for the past two years.

It will be recalled that, President Akufo Addo on a tour to the Lambussie district in July last year promised to get the roof repaired within 10 days after the paramount Chief of Lambussie, Kuoro Salifu Tengie Dy-yaka appealed to him to support the school.

After seven months since the president’s promise, the school has finally been fixed by a local contractor, Azimpex Company limited under the auspices of the Coordinator for Special Projects at the office of the President.

According to the DCE, the Parent Teacher Association (PTA) has put up a dormitory block as part of efforts to enhance learning and convert the School into a boarding house.

Meanwhile the DCE explained that some efforts are put in place by the Member of Parliament to help expand the existing infrastructure in the basic schools.

According to the DCE, the MP, Dr Baligi Bright in collaboration with the National Lottery Authority and the Consolidated Bank of Ghana will construct a six unit classroom block and a three unit classroom at Sentu and Lambussie respectively.

He also said the Lawmaker has partnered with Arab Organizations to drill over 20 boreholes to provide potable drinking water in the district.

In a related development, the District Chief Executive, Hon George Gerard Nalurig mentioned bad road network as the major challenge facing the district while expressing his resolve to get it addressed in collaboration with the Member of Parliament.

The DCE further revealed that the district is set to benefit from EU road project and a further 28 kilometres of tarred road will be constructed for the first time in the district.
