Sissala East MP constructs Pieng-Challu road in constituency

The Member of Parliament for Sissala East Constituency, Hon. Amidu Chinnia Issahaku has started the upgrading of some roads in the Sissala East Constituency to improve road network in the area.

The Pieng – Challu road has caught the attention of the MP and work has started on the stretch as part of efforts to enhance movement across the constituency.

The Sissala belt of the Upper West Region is inundated by poor roads but successive governments has not done match to improve the situation.

The Wa-Tumu road has been a political promise over the years but several regimes have reneged on their promise to scale up the road infrastructure in the area.

Ahead of the 2020 elections, the paramount chief of the Tumu traditional area, Kuoro Richard Babini Kanton IV expressed shock that roads in the area were not fixed by the NPP government.

Meanwhile, there is no single tarred road linking any community to the other in the Sissala East Constituency and the situation is affecting farmers as they find it difficult to cart their products to market centers.

The major occupation of the people is farming and the area has proved to be the food basket for the region and beyond but the deplorable nature of the roads is threatening food security in the area.

Hon. Amidu Chinnia Issahaku who doubles as the Deputy Minister for Sanitation and Water Resources is making frantic efforts to change the narrative under his leadership.

The roads in the Sisala East Municipality make up over 45.2% of the roads in the Upper West Region.
