Wa West: DCE Launches Mother to Mother support group at Eggu – Zang

The District Chief Executive for Wa West District Hon. Vida Diorotey together with the Wa West District Director of Health Services Madam Cecilia Kakariba yesterday Thursday,30th June launched the Mother to Mother support Women Group at Eggu – Zang, a farming community in the Wa West District of the Upper West Region.

The program is to coordinate the operational mode women group in the District and formalize their administration to boost donor support.

Speaking during the launch, the DCE appealed to mothers and fathers to play collaborative role in bringing up if their kids in society led by Early Exclusive Breastfeeding, Early pregnancy Health care, Visit to Antenatal periodically among others to improve health care Among women.

She charged the Mother to Mother support Women Group to dedicate their time in preaching the attitude and practice of breastfeeding, supplementary feeding among infants to prevent child mortality in health facilities.

She said mothers are the foundation of everyone’s life and hence should be educated in diverse ways of life.

she also challenged parents to develop high interest to sending their kids to school as they will grow up to become responsible leaders in society.

“Education is the bed rock of life and should be embraced by every sphere of life”, parts of her speech reads.

The Hon DCE also hinted that plans are far advances to bringing development to the district especially the Eggu – Zang community.

“The District Assembly is working hard to mobilize funds to open new roads, provide schools, boreholes, and strengthen the security atmosphere as well as weak system of the leap beneficiaries which is currently limited to the aged in the district”, the visibly excited DCE hinted .

She called on the chiefs and residents in the various communities to be united and be vigilant and security conscious in their daily lives.

The Mother to Mother support Women Group was selected from communities such as Oli, Kukpali, Eggu, Supkere, ASE among other communities.

The District Director of Health Services for the Wa West District, Madam Cecilia Kakariba, charged the inaugurated women group to be responsible in the discharge of their activities in the communities they represent.

She urged them to abide by the theme; Knowledge, Attitude, And practice of Early Exclusive Breastfeeding as well as supplementary feeding among infants at their 6 months.
