Ali Gado, former Upper West Regional research and elections director of the ruling New Patriotic Party has claimed that the NDC is scared of Dr Mahmud Bawumia for been one of the finest economists in Ghana.

He said the Vice President is one of the top three economists in the country which is why the NDC is always quick to run him down.

He made these revelations to Waris Annaakaa on Home Radio’s award winning talk show, Tegyaayela.

The former NPP research and elections director noted that Dr Bawumia’s economic credentials is trite as he dared the NDC to mention three economists who are better than Vice President.

Mr Ali Gado said Dr Bawumia is likely to take over from Nana Akufo Addo as the president of the Ghana and that the NDC feared it could happen which justifies their incessant attacks on him.

According to him, Dr Bawumia as head of the economic management team stabilized the economy after the government rolled out several interventions in the first four years without COVID-19.

He urged the president to whip the system together after some bickering between leading members of the economic management team in their quest to lead the party.

Mr Ali Gado further wondered how the NDC could have managed the economy differently if they were in power.

In his response on the same program, Mr Prince Mahmud who is a member of the NDC communication team said Dr Bawumia cannot be regarded as one of the finest economists because he wasn’t known in Ghana prior to his appointment as running mate in 2008.

He said the NPP is drowning and should admit amidst economic hardship and high debt levels that has exacerbated cost of living among Ghanaians.
