The Upper West Regional Multipurpose Youth Resource Center will be commissioned after the completion of phase 2.

According to Dr Hafiz Bin Salih, plans to commission the facility which is christened as B.K Adama Youth Resource Center (BKA-MYRC) during the president’s impending visit to the region will be revised based on the explanation given by the consultant.

The Minister made this known during a tour at the faculty with the chief Executive Officer of the National Youth Authority, Pius Enam Hadzide on Monday, 25th July, 2022.

The Minister indicated that there is the need to be patient for the phase 2 to be completed before the grand commissioning of the faculty.

“We are not going to commission the facility during the visit of his excellency the president. We will leave that until the facility is entirely completed so that the president will come purposely to commission the facility.” He assured.

He added that he was satisfied with the quality work on the project and urged the contractor to expedite work to get the project completed as the people of the region are in dire need of the facility.

“I have always indicated that this not coming to take the place of the Wa sports stadium. Not at all. It is only coming to complement the use of the Wa sports stadium.” The Minister stressed.

He used the opportunity to appeal to the CEO of the National Youth Authority to rehabilitate the stands at the Wa Sports Stadium.

“If his outfit can come to the assistance of the region in that regard it will be pleasing to the people of the region. So I am extending a hand of request to the NYA if they can do that for us.”

Last week, the Regional Minister revealed his intention for the facility to be commissioned during a visit of the President to the region in August.

However, such plans to commission the facility soon will be revised based on the advise by the project consultant and the NYA CEO.
