Alan Kyerematen Steps Down As Trade Minister, Shakes President To Reshuffle

Ghana’s longest Trade and Industry Minister Hon John Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen has officially tendered in his resignation letter to the Presidency.

The seasoned politician served as Trade and Minister under John Agyekum Kufuor before his appointment into the same office by HE Nana Addo Danquah Akuffo in January 2017.

Reliable sources within the inner circles of the Presidency hinted that the industrial and trade expert tendered in his resignation to the President after a long meeting at Jubilee House last night.

His surprised resignation has sent shock waves through the government and the New Patriotic Party.

Sources at the seat of government hint at a massive reshuffle
soon.

It is not clear as to what prompted his resignation but there are indications that it is to allow him campaign for his political ambition to lead the NPP in 2024 elections.

As one of the front liners for the Presidential Primaries, Hon Alan Kyerematen is expected to intensify his campaign across the country ahead of the Primaries slated for the last quarter of 2023.

He has been accredited with the flagship One District One Factory initiative amongst the many policies aimed at improving industrialization in the country

The Presidency is expected to issue an official Statement on the resignation of the Trade and Industry Minister in the coming hours.
