Former President John Mahama Attends Funeral of Late Bishop of Wa Catholic Diocese

Former President of the Republic of Ghana, HE John Dramani Dramani attended the funeral of the late Cardinal and Bishop of Wa, His eminence Richard Kuuia Baawobr.

The Former President was at the Wa St Andrews Catholic Cathedral on Sunday, 15 January 2023 to observe a mass service ceremony in memory of the late cardinal.

He was led through prayers at the grave of the Late Cardinal by Very Rev. Edward Tengan before he signed the book of condolence at the forecourt of the cathedral.

John Dramani Mahama was out of the country during the burial of the late Cardinal in Wa.

But according to him, funerals per tradition do not expire, and the reason he has come to commiserate with the Catholic community over their loss.

Cathedral Administrator of the Wa Catholic Cathedral, Rev. Father Mathew Tourosong said, they received support and donations on behalf of the Former President during the funeral when he was out of the country.

He said they acknowledged his support and did expect a visit from him, thus describing the visit as a surprise visit.

The Late Cardinal Richard Kuuia Baawobr who died at age 63 was buried at the St Andrews Catholic Cathedral in Wa on Friday, 13th January 2023.

He was born on the 21st of June 1959 and was ordained, Bishop of Wa in May 2016 until his death in November last year.
