UW: 16 year Old Girl In Need Of GHC70k To Undergo Kidney Dialysis
A 16 year old girl from Gboriteng in Lassia Tuolo in Wa West District of the Upper West Region, is in dire need of GHC70K to undergo life saving dialysis.
The JHS student, who was identified as Hana Kuumour, has been on admission for a week at the Upper West Regional Hospital has been battling with Kidney condition called “Nephrotic Syndrome” and need Ghc 70, 000,00 to undergo Kidney Dialysis in the same facility.
Home Radio News crew on Saturday 18 March, 2023 visited Hana at the Hospital to ascertain her condition in the quest to seek for support for her.
Speaking to the Hospital authorities at Upper West Regional Hospital to establish more about the case, a senior Doctor at the Dialysis Unit Dr. Kwabena Oppong Kyeremeh explained that, Nephrotic Syndrome is a condition with symptoms of swelling around the eyes and in the feet and ankles, foamy urine and weight gain due to excess fluid retention.
The Doctor added that, the condition of the girl has reached an urgent stage of “End-stage kidney disease (ESKD)”, which is the last stage of long-term (chronic) kidney disease. This is when your kidneys can no longer support your body’s needs. And End-stage kidney disease is also called end-stage renal disease (ESRD).
Dr. Oppong however lamented on the stage of the girl condition and stated that ” the early we start for Hana, the better results we achieve”.
In his conclusion message, he said the Hospital authorities nearly discharge Hana Home due to financial difficulties on the family to raise the such amount for the girl to undergo the Kidney Dialysis in the facility, but their decision has been reconsidered upon hearing the intervention of the media specifically Home Radio Network to support in soliciting funds from charitable organizations and the general public to enable the family undergo the Dialysis.
The Mother of the girl added her voice with tears calling for support from the general public especially the former and current Members of Parliament from the Upper West Region Hon. Chireh, Hon. Peter Lanchene Toobu, the District Chief executive for Wa West Hon. Vida Diorotey and also the Upper West Regional Minister Dr. Hafiz Bin Salih to come to the aid of Hana to rescue her life.
