Remembering Jerry John Rawlings: Dignitaries sign book of condolence in Wa

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Upper West Region on Monday opened a book of condolence for the former president and founder of the NDC, Jerry John Rawlings in its regional office in Wa.

Mr Stephen Kpen, a Cadre and former organizing assistant for Lawra speaking to Home Radio News said he took part in signing the book because he believed in the tenants of the revolution which include probity, accountability and integrity.

 

Signing the book of condolence, Mr Stephen Kpen wrote: “Daddy, fare dee well till we meet again. The revolution continues until we have won the battle: Revo, Revo, Revolu Continua.”

He described Rawlings as an icon who fought for justice by leading a group of Junior Military Officers to salvage the rot that was taken place at the time.

He praised the former president for his role in setting the tone for a peaceful United and democratic Ghana.

“We have lost a great leader. I have pain in my heart, very big pain that we have lost a great leader. And for the NDC, I only wish and pray that this elections will come to pass and NDC will win hands down to give my senior comrade, my mentor, a peaceful resting place as he wish on his sick bed by giving the two direct sign.

“NDC will win the election and give our founder, leader, mentor and our former president a good resting place. May his soul Rest In Peace.”

Former appointees, Cadres, past and present executives, elders and sympathizers of the NDC in the Upper West Region are expected to sign the book to honor the fallen hero.
