A tragic series of events has left three members of the same family dead in the Offinso-Achiase community in Ghana’s Ashanti Region, following a violent dispute that unfolded on Monday, February 16, 2026.

According to sources, a 21-year-old man with a history of mental illness fatally attacked his biological mother during a domestic misunderstanding. When one of his brothers, identified as Kofi, confronted him over the killing, he too was overpowered and killed by the suspect. The 21-year-old was subsequently killed by unknown assailants, believed to have acted in retaliation for the deaths of his mother and brother.

Police have been informed and are currently investigating the circumstances surrounding all three deaths. The incident has sent shockwaves through the Offinso-Achiase community, with residents calling on authorities to strengthen security measures to prevent similar tragedies in the future.

Separately, a serious road accident on the Kumasi-Offinso Highway claimed one life on the same day. The crash occurred at Anyinasuso near Offinso when an articulated truck travelling from Aboffuor to Kumasi lost control and collided with three other vehicles. A Toyota Vitz was among the most severely affected, with its driver sustaining injuries and a passenger losing their life at the scene. Another person was left in critical condition following the collision.

Police have taken over the accident scene and investigations are underway. Both the injured and the deceased have been transported to a hospital in Offinso.
