The former District Chief Executive (DCE) for the then Nadowli-Issa District and former Upper West Deputy Regional Minister, Hon. Abu K. K., has pledged to donate 100 bags of cement to the Touri community to support the self-initiated project of the CHPS Maternity Ward.

Hon. Abu’s pledge forms part of a continuing effort to strengthen maternal healthcare infrastructure, and is expected to assist in sustaining and completing the stalled segments of the facility. The community-driven initiative seeks to construct a local maternity block to complement the existing CHPS compound, thereby enabling safer skilled delivery services for expectant mothers.

Moved by the determination of the community members, Hon. Abu commended the people of Touri for undertaking such a remarkable project. He expressed confidence that, alongside the support from government and philanthropists, the initiative would ultimately receive the needed boost to take shape and serve its intended purpose.

He made the pledge on Monday, 25 May 2026, during his visit to the district for the donation of drugs and medical equipment to 14 CHPS Compounds across the district, including the Touri CHPS, which was among the beneficiaries. The items presented are intended as personal support to help restore essential first-aid supplies such as malaria syrup, paracetamol syrup, cough syrup, blood tonic, antibiotics, and other related medicinesto safeguard vulnerable persons in the various communities, particularly during this period when illnesses are prevalent.

In addition, Bussie Health Centre received a cash donation of GHC 3,000, along with support from the Member of Honour to repair part of the roofing damaged by the rainstorm.
Speaking on behalf of the Director, Mr. Phillip Tuorong, who was part of the team from the District Health Directorate, expressed deep appreciation to Hon. Abu K. K. for the kind gesture. He noted that the donation has come at the right time, as the raining season contributes to the increased spread of malaria and other related diseases.

The focal person for the Touri community also used the occasion to urge other sons and daughters of the district to emulate Hon. Abu K. K.’s example by supporting efforts toward the development of the Daffiama Bussie Issa District, and by reaching out to support vulnerable members of society.
