Alhaji Alaska B. Kanton, a prominent contender in the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Upper West Regional Chairmanship race, officially filed his nomination on Friday, July 17. Following this, he pledged to lead the party with a campaign focused on unity, grassroots revitalization, and a clean, decent political approach. He is competing against the incumbent, Alhaji Aziz Abdul Rahman, and other influential figures in other various positions, all aiming to strategically position the party for the crucial 2028 elections.
His core focus remains on restoring internal harmony and conducting a campaign devoid of personal attacks. His platform is built upon a commitment to respectful engagement, fostering strong grassroots connections, and securing parliamentary victories across the Upper West region.
The Upper West Regional Chairmanship contest is poised to be one of the most closely observed within the party. As the NPP undergoes reorganization at both regional and constituency levels, delegates are actively seeking candidates capable of bridging divides and effectively mobilizing the youth.
Alhaji urged his supporters and all party members to remain committed and to pray for the party’s future success. He assured delegates that, should he and his team be given the mandate, he would establish stronger party structures within the region.
