The NHIS Festive Pulse activation at the Asafotufiam Festival in Ada recorded 2,154 registrations and membership renewals, reflecting strong patronage of NHIS services during the festival.

The figures highlight the response to the Scheme’s decision to take its services directly to the festival grounds, where residents and visitors were able to register, renew their memberships and receive assistance with their NHIS membership details.

The activation also served as an important public education platform. The Festive Pulse team engaged patrons on the NHIS benefit package, the Free Primary Healthcare (FPHC) programme and the One-Time Attendance Code (OTAC), while encouraging members to maintain active coverage.

The team also took the NHIS message to Eagle FM, engaging listeners on reforms being implemented to improve the experience of members. Angela Asiedu, Ag. Deputy Director, Marketing and Branding, Corporate Affairs Directorate, explained that the Scheme was taking steps to address illegal charges at credentialed health facilities, with OTAC being one of the measures aimed at strengthening accountability.

She also spoke about measures to ensure the prompt payment of claims to credentialed healthcare providers, which is expected to support improved service delivery.

At the grand durbar, Mr Emmanuel Kofi Alimo, NHIS Dangme East District Manager, urged residents and festival patrons to take advantage of the NHIS presence at the festival grounds to access registration and renewal services.

The Festive Pulse team also engaged key stakeholders in Ada, including Hon. Comfort Doyoe Cudjoe-Ghansah, Member of Parliament for the Ada Constituency; Hon. Kenneth Kabu Kanor, District Chief Executive for Ada East; and Hon. Modjifatanihu Jerry John Foreigner Mills-Nkrumah, District Chief Executive for Ada West.

The 2,154 registrations and renewals recorded during the activation demonstrate the potential of major festivals as platforms for bringing NHIS services closer to the public while creating opportunities for education, engagement and stronger connection with the NHIS brand.

NHIS Festive Pulse leverages major festivals across the country to bring NHIS services and public education directly to communities and visitors.
