In a significant move to enhance educational infrastructure, the Ghana Education Trust Fund (GETFund) has committed to reviving seven stalled projects at St. Vincent’s College of Education in the Yendi municipality.

This announcement was made by GETFund’s Deputy Administrator, Hon. Alhasan Sualihu Dandaawa, on behalf of the Administrator, Mr. Paul Adjei, at the college’s 5th Graduation ceremony on September 7, 2025, and marks a significant step toward improving facilities that have been left incomplete since 2017. The approved projects include the construction of an ultramodern ICT and library block, two hostel blocks, a model school, a multipurpose lecture hall with offices, a principal’s bungalow, and an administration block. Additionally, funds have been allocated for road and drainage services, as well as the supply of furniture, all of which are crucial for creating a conducive learning and living environment for both students and staff.

Hon. Dandaawa assured the college’s management that GETFund’s current leadership, under Administrator Mr. Paul Adjei, has made explicit financial provisions in the 2025 distribution formula to ensure the timely completion of these vital projects.

The ceremony also celebrated the achievements of 222 graduating students, with Obeng Asante David receiving the prestigious title of Valedictorian and Outstanding Teacher of the JHS Division. In his address, David passionately affirmed the graduating class’s commitment to the college’s vision of molding rural learners into future leaders who can transform their communities and the world. Other top-performing students were also recognized for their excellence, including Musah Juliet (Best Female Student), Serwaa Amankwah Evelyn (Best Student, Early Grade Education), and Narbi Yaw Moses (Best Student, Upper Primary).

Speaking at the event, Deputy Minister of Education, Hon. Dr. Clement Apaak, confirmed that discussions have been finalized to formalize the partnership between his ministry and GETFund. This collaboration aims to ensure that the President John Mahama-led administration’s goal of providing quality teacher education for basic and senior high schools is successfully realized.

The call for the graduates to become torchbearers in restoring educational standards amidst the fallen standards was a recurring theme, with presentations from the college’s Principal, Prof. Nashiru Sulemana, and other dignitaries who graced the occasion.
