The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has congratulated the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on his re-election as Speaker of the 9th Parliament. A delegation led by GFA President Kurt Okraku-Mantey visited the Speaker to convey their congratulations and discuss potential collaborations for the advancement of football in Ghana.
During the visit, the delegation presented a document titled “State of Ghana Football,” which outlines the current status of football in Ghana, its challenges, and proposed solutions. The document highlights the need for investment and public support to develop the sport.
In his remarks, the Rt. Hon. Speaker pledged his full support for football, affirming it as a promising venture deserving of investment and urging public backing. He also encouraged the delegation to undertake regional tours to identify and nurture young talent.
The Speaker was joined by other dignitaries, including the Majority Leader, Hon. Mahama Ayariga; the Minority Leader, Hon. Alexander Afenyo Markin; the Chairman of the Sports Committee of Parliament, Hon. Ernest Norgbey; and the Clerk to Parliament, Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror.
Speaker Bagbin’s re-election has been widely congratulated by various organizations and individuals, including the Institute of Statisticians and Data Scientists (ISDS) and the Speaker of the Ugandan Parliament, Anita Among.
As the GFA continues to work towards developing football in Ghana, the support of the Speaker and other stakeholders is crucial. With the “State of Ghana Football” document serving as a roadmap, the GFA is poised to make significant strides in promoting the sport and nurturing young talent.
