The District Chief Executive (DCE) of Wa West District in the Upper West Region, Hon. Richard Wulo, visited affected schools and homes in the Dornye Community on May 5, 2025, to assess the damage caused by a recent rainstorm disaster on May 2, 2025. This visit marked his first day in office.
Hon. Wulo was accompanied by the Presiding Member for the District Assembly, Mr. Ephraim Y. Dassaa; the Constituency Chairman for the NDC, Mr. Mathew Vaari; some assembly officials, including NADMO workers; and other concerned residents within the district.
The rainstorm resulted in the destruction of 71 houses, several economic trees, school structures, and properties, but fortunately, no deaths were recorded. During his visit, the DCE expressed empathy with the affected residents and assured them that the Assembly would work with the disaster management authority and the central government to address the situation.
Hon. Wulo acknowledged the challenges the people were facing due to the disaster and urged the affected residents to accept the situation with resilience, emphasizing that God is always present in times of adversity.
